WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete the initial paperwork, if you have not completed it online. These forms gathers general information for the therapist and provides clients with an overview of office policies.
After forms are completed, the therapist invites any questions regarding therapy, fees, insurance and briefly explains portions of the paperwork packet. The rest of the session is dedicated to learning about you and what led you to Live Beyond Existing.
Should you arrive more than 15 minutes after scheduled appointment time, your appointment will be rescheduled at therapist's earliest availability.
What Do Sessions Look Like?
Oftentimes, we will begin sessions by exploring your symptoms and understanding your goals for therapy. I will often apply a wide variety of modalities and strategies to provide the treatment that will help you the most.
When helpful, I will provide homework assignments to work on outside of sessions. These may be anything from practicing specific therapeutic techniques (mindfulness, thought logs, etc) to reading webpages to answering reflective questions. For my readers, I might also recommend various books that aid in increasing insight and building confidence.
The long-term goal is to help you utilize positive coping skills independently and live a joy filled life.
